Happy Birthday John!
For John's 30th - we went to the Greenbrier. We had a fabulous time with some good friends and WONDERFUL food. Nothing like eating dinner in an old southern Main Dining Hall. The Dining Hall was opened in 1913. During World War II, the resort was used as an Army hospital and the Colonnade Dining Room became the mess hall for enlisted men while the Georgian Dining Room was for officers. - I love the history of this place. Makes it really special to visit.
We had a four-course meal followed by a night in the Casino. Trent won a little money. I lost - gambling is not my thing. I wish I took pictures of my meal, because it was out of this world. All I got was John and his Birthday Cake.
I had the Chicken Liver Parfait - Vanilla Citrus Confit, Port Wine Reduction Endive Salad, Toasted Brioche followed by a Caesar Salad. Then for the main course I had USDA Prime Filet Mignon -
Black Pepper Polenta Fries, “Broccoli”, Red Wine Onion Marmalade and Crispy Radishes and Merchant Du Vin Sauce. For dessert Trent and I split a piece of cake.
